This free workshop is part of a series organized by the Slate Valley Unified School District.

Special needs planning is essential to protect and plan for your disabled family member. Even though not having the right plans in place can be a detriment for loved ones with special needs, many families just don’t know where to begin. This workshop will include an overview of what parents and other family members need to know about special needs planning. A parent who has navigated this process will also be available as a resource and share his experience.

This event will be presented by Claudia I. Pringles, Esq., and Maurice Ouimet, parent.

This workshop will include an overview of special needs planning, including:
– The protection of important government benefits (SSI, Medicaid)
– Special needs trusts
– ABLE accounts
– How to avoid a “payback” to the state for Medicaid
– How to ensure checks and balances

The presenters will be available via Zoom. Watch from the comfort of your home or at Fair Haven Middle and High School Library in Rutland County, Vermont, where childcare will be provided. For more information, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Margaret Hayward at, 802-265-4966, Ext. 2508
